Thanks to everyone who joined in and asked insightful questions to help the design/art community advance our craft.

Sunday Sketching: Wheeled Vehicle Grids
Просмотров 24 тыс.3 года назад
This is not the sexiest drawing subject, but it is the foundation I use over and over again to build my sketches upon, the reliable set of wheels in perspective! They can be used to estimate the proportions of anything and should become a go-to asset in your toolset of drawing techniques if you are into drawing vehicles from your imagination. Referenced a few pages in my book How to Draw as a t...

Hey mr Scott, a question. at 14:49, after you establish the right vanishing point, how can you use the minor axis you created for the elipse at 12:33 to find the left vanishing point?
We know that a minor axis of an ellipse is like the axle of a wheel and is perpendicular to the plane of the ellipse. So it follows that the minor axis in that example has to go to the left VP. Then building out the guide lines of the plane of the ellipse we can find the right VP.
@@scottrobertsondesign Thanks you, that all makes sense! but about making lines towards the left VP, would the only way to ensure those are correct be to use something like the brewer method? After all at that point you only have one line, the minor axis aiming towards the left VP. Thanks again!
@@TheLDARtist Yes, very good, that's correct. Usually we just make an educated guess though based on the convergence you set for the guide lines going to the right VP in this case.
I had no idea I would be randomly finding videos on the artists that worked on Hawken, I loved that game and I was fascinated with the mechs and world. cool.
Ive been stuck on ideas for the last few hours and this video has given me the inspiration i needed , thank you
What kind of ruler is that? And what is that thing with multiple teeth?
It's called a "parallel rule" or "parallel ruler" has wheels and says parallel as you roll it across a flat surface.
Thank You so much for uploading this. This is so cool.
Thank you so much
It just arrived yesterday. Looks tough as heck 😢. But I will give it everything I got. Even though I just draw for fun.
One step at a time, you can do it!
great!

Very satisfied with my purchase of your book
28:40 this is the craziest thing I have ever seen someone do 🥶
Can we get your brushes please ?
Amazing! Very useful! I am still reading the book, it's been two years now; a bit hard to understand, but an amazing book. This video helped me a lot on this chapter. Thank you!
HELLO
34k views 🥹 we could have had an entire series of professionally produced videos from the most important illustration instructor the world has ever known but he isn't teaching Instagram anime girls so the world didn't care. How very disappointing you are, humans...
Hey Scott, Great work. I'd like to see you draw a motorcycle with HUB MOTORS only. The ones that look like pancakes. LOL. Maybe the batteries could be in the middle... The middle would definitely have plenty of space - maybe for weapons, storage, left open? SUB/LIKE/SHARE/COMMENT/JOIN/THX.
This was great Scott! Thanks for walking us through your setup! Very interesting!
I want to hit one pivotal point in the video before I go on. 14:00. It's amazing that working in VR, has upgraded my 2D design skills not just my 3D skills. We you take away all of the cumbersomeness of 3D tools it leave you to focus on design, not buttons. Right now I only use Meduim but once I read the fine print on Gravity rights I'll consider it. I started but it seem they wanted rights to my devices. It was invasive so I foregoes. Other than that, Scott has been an inspiration for decades so I will consider the app not being unethical.
Thanks for the explanations Mr. Robertson. But I can not find the video that you have spoken. That one about conect views to creat volume. Where I can find it?
Thanks. The URL for all of the videos is listed at the back of the book along with the Username and Password to access.
@@scottrobertsondesign Hello again. I've tryied to access your videos. However, to do this is necessary to do login. And I was not able to find the link/button to creat an account. Please, could you tell me where I can find it?
You do not have to create an account, just follow the URL listed in the book on page 206, in How to Draw, then enter the username and password listed on that page.@@heldersezinaldo5257

Obrigado.
Linhas e ângulos de perspectivas incríveis😃👍🛵
Dang really ashamed no more uploads - I was really looking forward to your new content in a new media form
thankyou
These videos are like opening gates to a different plain of existence. Learning how an expert thinks, what the general focus and problems are and how experience helped to overcome it. Just magnificent
y'know. I was expecting him to carefully measure. Not just crap out perfect work as a 'sketch'

Valeu pelas dicas! Vai Brazilian

Awesome
Just discovered Chris and I’m very impressed and inspired. I’ve been doing animals in my sketchbook for about 25 years, most in the same book. But luckily my sketchbook has over two thousand pages, so I won’t run out of pages for a long time. Thanks for the interview, excellent work Chris.
Watching these videos feels like digging up lost artifacts
Love your detailed books how to draw and how to render. Very nicely put together with video links when using your iphone or ipad.
“Using your ellipse guide it’s not cheating it’s working smart “ Scott Robertson 😂
It was not engineered by humans. None of the car makers like to reuse any ideas, or make things consistent. Just a thought to make it more realistic to what humans do.
